Think. Believe. Jump. Create.
Meet Russell Hilliard Digital Marketing Director

Russ began his career as a humble Runner and Edit Assistant before moving on in 1990 to work as a Graphic Designer at Independent Design Facilities within ITN. It was here he met up with the other future founding members of Jump.

In his 5 years at IDF, Russ was awarded the BAFTA for Excellence in Graphic Design for his work on the groundbreaking television series ‘The Day Today’. These graphics also garnered an RTS Craft and Design Award nomination.
Other awards in this time included the New York Festivals Gold Award for ‘The Green Movie’ and a BDA International Gold Award for ‘Frontline’, D&AD Team Award for ‘Miller Time’ Commercials and RTS nominations for ‘Smith & Jones’ and ‘Brass Eye’
In 1996 Russ co-founded Jump and has gone on to develop the visual identity for many major sporting events including ‘BBC Sport Relief’, ‘6 Day Cycling’ and ‘Red Bull’s Signature Series’ – as well as TV entertainment gems ‘The X Factor’, ‘The Graham Norton Show’ and ‘Five Star Family Reunion’ to name but a few.

FAVOURITE JUMP TITLE SEQUENCE
The Graham Norton Show and the film ident we made for DCM.

SURPRISING FACT ABOUT YOURSELF
I’m a big NFL fan and have supported the New York Jets since Channel 4 started showing the sport in the early 80s.  I also used to play cricket for Essex as a fast bowler. I once met Freddie Trueman who told me “Whatever you do lad, just keep bowling FAST!” (delivered in a strong Yorkshire accent obviously). I didn’t keep bowling fast I’m afraid Freddy – gave it all up to make telly graphics.

WHEN NOT AT JUMP YOU ARE MOST LIKELY TO BE FOUND
On a yoga mat. Or in a kitchen baking cakes undoing all the good work done on the yoga mat.

FAVOURITE TV SHOW
Currently – House of Cards. All time – Frasier.

DREAM HOLIDAY
New York City: Cocktails, culture, restaurants, retail therapy. Basically all my favourite London activities but with taller buildings.
